By the end of this module, you will know how to setup and manage the Microsoft Authenticator application and use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) as a way of keeping your Jet Linx account secure.
Mobile App:
To begin, you will need to download the Microsoft Authenticator application to your cell phone. The app is available to both Android and iOS users.
You can scan these QR codes to ensure you are downloading the correct application:
Setup:
Once you have downloaded the app, please use a tablet or computer to go to myapplications.microsoft.com and login with your Jet Linx email and password.
Once logged in, you will get this prompt:
Go ahead and click, "NEXT"
You should now be on this page:
Since the application is already installed on your phone, you can proceed by clicking, "NEXT"
When you get to the next screen, click, "NEXT" again.
Now, you are on the page with the QR code:
At this time, you are done on the computer/tablet but be sure to stay on this page.
On Your Phone:
Open the Authenticator application and press the blue button that says, "Add Account."
- NOTE: If your phone asks you to enable notifications for the Authenticator app, select "Yes" or "Enable"
- NOTE: If you are already using the app for other accounts, press the "+" button in the upper right of the screen.
Select "Work or School Account"
Then, select "Scan a QR code."
- NOTE: At this time, the app will ask for permission to use your phone's camera. Make sure to give it permission so the camera will come up.
When the camera successfully scans the QR code, you will see your Jet Linx account appear as an account in the Authenticator app.
Time to Test
Now that the QR code is scanned, and your account has been added to the Authenticator app, on your computer or tablet, go ahead and press "NEXT."
You will be taken to this screen stating, "Let's try it out." You will see a two-digit number below that.
At the same time you get to this screen, your phone will receive a notification from Authenticator to authenticate.
Tap on the notification and enter the two-digit number where it says, "Enter number here" and press "YES."
Once that is complete, go back to your tablet or computer and you should see a green checkmark signifying that the authentication was successful. If so, press "NEXT."
The next screen will confirm your Authenticator is setup and completed. At this time, you can click, "DONE." Finally, you will be taken to your profile page.
Congratulations! You have successfully setup your Authenticator app and have taken vital steps in keeping your Jet Linx account secure.
